Inside The Mission Motors TTXGP Bike
Video of the Mission One recently hit YouTube showing the bike being torn down and packed up for the trip to IOM for TTXGP. Lots of interesting details were displayed including shots of the trellis frame, rear swing arm and what looks to be a horn. Or is it a speaker? There has been talk of electric motorcycle manufacturers building sound generation devices into the bikes to let people know they are coming. There has also been talk of using warning devices for the TTXGP.

Brammo Wins 38 Interns On Ebay

Brammo Wins 38 Interns on ebay
A favorite word in the Brammo camp is “disruptive”. I am not sure exactly what CEO Craig Bramscher means by that. If I had to guess I’d say it means they plan to turn the powersports electronics industry on it’s head by changing the way people think about motorcycles. Brammo is doing it’s share of disrupting and doing a lot of it at a blistering pace.
Over the past few months Brammo have tossed aside the dealer model and secured a distribution and sales deal with Best Buy, moved to a new headquarters, established a strong social media presence on twitter, prepared 2 bikes for the TTXGP, hired amazingly talented executives, given dozens of interviews and that is only what we know about.
Now Brammo has some help. Yesterday they won an ebay auction of 38 interns for US $17,655.00 from Crispin Porter + Bogusky, a marketing firm out of Miami, FL. Winning this auction not only brings Brammo a lot of fresh brain power and first hand insight into the minds of the next generation of riders, it also brought them much attention on twitter and the blogosphere.
One of CPB’s many high profile clients is Geek Squad who will most likely be trained to service the Brammo Enertia when it goes on sale at Best Buy later this year. I assume the Geek Squad relationship is how Brammo came to know CPB. This partnership should be a great deal for both companies. The interns will learn a lot from Brammo’s top notch executive staff and the bright, young CPB interns will bring fresh thought and enthusiasm to the team. It should be interesting to see what projects Brammo puts them on. The Enertia has an open API and is GPS and Wifi enabled so possible projects at Brammo are numerous. It all depends on how big Mr. Bramscher and his team are dreaming.
For now, the market for plug bikes is open for the taking. With strong competition from MotoGP bred MotoCzysz, Zero Motorcycles, Quantya and soon KTM and Honda, Brammo needs to be disruptive to survive and they seem to be making great progress. 38 interns with fresh perspectives on marketing should make the disruption even more interesting to watch.

Brammo TTR TTXGP Bike Pic
Here is a pic of the Brammo TTR TTXGP Bike. Until now we have only seen renderings of what the TTR might look like. The TTR electric race bike is based on the Brammo Enertia which will go into production later this year. Brammo is entering two of these machines in the up coming TTXGP electric motorcycle race at Isle Of Man June 12, 2009.

MotoCzysz E1pc Dyno Run Video
Portland, Oregon based MotoCzysz recently posted a new video of their E1pc Electric TTXGP bike recorded during dyno testing. The first video they posted had the batteries wired off the bike. It shows the bare frame which is designed to allow upgrades of batteries to suit power requirements. The second video shows the bike with the battery packs installed. I must say it look like a rolling blade server, a figment from a server admin’s wet dream. The sound of the bike spooling up to 120 mph in 11 seconds is freekishly cool even after the 10th time watching it. This is how the speeder bikes in Endor should have sounded.

Brammo got it’s start assembling and distributing the Ariel Atom in the United States. An extremely light, extremely fast sports car. CEO Craig Bramscher’s roots in green technology, high gas prices and barriers to entry to EV cars prompted a move to electric motorcycle manufacture. The company entered the 2009 TTXGP at Isle of Man with the Brammo TTR all electric race bike. Brammo’s Enertia will be sold exclusively through west coast USA Best Buy starting August 2009.
