MotoCzysz Qualifies For TTXGP Race

Yesterday, June 10 was the second and last day of qualifying for the final TTXGP race being held tomorrow. Based on comments from the field, a rumor developed that MotoCzysz did not qualify for the final. I was hoping this was not the case and a fan/photographer on the scene confirmed it was not. MotoCzysz apparently crossed the finish line with little power left. We now have MotoCzysz side of the story.

Reader tgintz left the following comment on my previous TTXGP Pictures post…

Just recieved this from the MotoCzysz team:

Concerning the second practice …. “This time we passed every other team and were blazing in for the fastest lap of the field when the controllers went into current limitation with sagging batteries just one mile from the finish line. Our rider, Mark Miller, stopped the bike and tried to figure out what was wrong as the rest of the teams passed, then decided to get back on and give it another go. By then the batteries had rebounded sufficiently to give him his last mile, ……and he crept in at only 13.8 mph! On the other hand, he qualified us for the race on Friday, and the bike absolutely ripped most of the way round. ……..we’re looking very good.”

MotoCzysz qualified…

This is great news, thanks tgintz for the update! MotoCzysz has wowed us repeatedly over the last 5 months with blog posts and videos of progress on their D1g1tal Superbike. It sounds like they will work through the issues and give Team Agni and the rest of the field a run for their money. I hope next year someone sets up a live stream of the event here in the states or more people are on the scene to blog details quickly. That would do a lot to get the fanatics like us accurate information quickly. Luckily this “year 0″ we have Amadeus_IOM to keep us up to date with pictures. Here are a few of the MotoCzysz E1pc during TTXGP Qualifying round 2:

I second that hope of yours, that next year they do a bit better with getting the raw information out to the world. I had to rely on the beer-influenced post of someone on the iomtt forum just to get lap times and speeds! One day, we’ll look back at this and laugh.

I am Mark Miller’s father, and it is with mixed emotions that I see the picture of Mark looking down at his prototype E1pc MotoCzysz. Is he perplexed and dejected, or puzzled over what to do next? Keep in mind that he had never seen the bike until it arrived at the Isle of Man; it’s that new. He had never tested it until thousands of people were watching. And he certainly had never experienced batteries running out of juice. But I’m sure MARK’s not out of juice! So beware, Bullet, because Miller The Thriller is go’n to clean your electric clock!

Hi Lynn, thanks a lot for the comment and a fathers insight! I’m sure you are more excited for Mark and MotoCzysz than the rest of us. We know Mark and the MotoCzysz bike are fast. We watched and read as the E1pc went from idea to reality in 5 months. Amazing. Can’t help but love pioneers and people who dream big and make it happen. Good luck to Mark and MotoCzysz tomorrow!

So, just talked to Loni for a few minutes on Adrian’s phone…. its getting exciting. Still prepping the bike for the race tomorrow, but they’re in and they’re confident they’ll do very well. Most of their problems were easily solved…. I mean, they didn’t have a ton of time before the race to iron out the bugs…Things sound dialed in and ready to go. Not bad for a 5 month TOTAL DEVELOPMENT time… They only had the motorcycle running for the last 3-4 weeks or so. They finished 30 miles on the test track after the 2nd practice race.

If you look really close, That’s Valentino Rossi’s signature on the tank, he signed it after talking to the team.

    Travis,

My fingers are crossed for the whole crew over there. I should hop back on to the VFR forums and see how many are laughing now at the ideas that Loni and I were talking about 2 years ago.

    I will see you soon.

Can someone get us some better coverage please :)

A DNF. Aughhhh! I haven’t talked to my son Mark yet, but I expect he’ll say something like let’s add 12-months to this 5-month development effort… and then kick some serious electric butt. Congrats to everyone for a history-making gallant effort.
